Writing Tools for Editing

I’ve been editing stories lately. As part of the process, I’ve found several of my own weaknesses when drafting my stories. Rather than struggle identifying issues through tedious searches and re-reads, I wrote a tool to help me.

What it does:

My word analyzer parses text or markdown files and performs various forms of frequency analysis on the document to identify common writing pitfalls, such as filter words, passive voice, over-used dialog tags, and repetitive word usage.

I’m still adding to the tool, but feel free to read my other blog post and learn what it can do.

Can you use it?

If you’re interested in learning more and having me host the tool so you can try it out, head over to https://charlieforte.com/2026/01/15/filter-words, and subscribe. If there is enough interest, I’ll put a version up that you can check out. Only subscribers to the Charlie Forêt blog will get the link to access the tool.
